Clinical simulation
Simulation performed by an orthopaedic surgeon for a better pre-operative analysis of the patient.
Collaboration area
A virtual area where users can store, build and manage all contents related to a patient case, including the simulation results, clinical notes, clinical records, discussion threads and a chat room.
Credit sponsoring
The act of giving a user a specific quantity of sponsor credits. Only portal’s clients can carry out this feature.
Customized model
A parameterized model whose dimensional and biomechanical variables are adjusted to the patient’s characteristics (e.g. from X-rays).
Design simulation
Simulation performed by an implant designer to test a particular structural or material configuration of the implant.
Finite element model (FEM)
The simulation of a physical structure consisting of a continuum of substances as a finite number of rigid bodies. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) means the evaluation of a finite element model.
Implant model
The model representing the mechanical properties of the orthopaedic implant.
Information services
In the SSP, all services related to the exploitation of the simulation archive, usually for training or demonstration purposes.
Integration services
The technical services offered by the SSP, in order to include either new implants into the portal’s catalogue (after appropriate modelisation efforts), or to connect new validated models to the simulation platform.
Joint model
The model representing the behaviour of the physiological or pathological human joint.
